Community Involvement

On December 8th the Florence Dental Clinic was honored by the Oregon Bankers Association.  Dee Osborne ,From Siuslaw Bank, nominated our bussiness for the Community Applause Award and we were choosen for the small business award.  It is a great honor to have won for our efforts to better the community that we live in.  The Florence Dental Clinic will continue to do what we can day by day to help our community and our children.

18 Street Pocket Park

Florence Dental Clinic is teaming up with the City of Florence to improve 18th street pocket park.  The current park was done in 1985, and it is time to make a change!

In December of 2011, community members met together at the Florence Dental Clinic to vote on play structure designs and colors.  The final votes included 3 slides, sky pods, and swings in the colors Blue and Yellow.   The cost came to approximately $35,000, and now we are fundraising the last several thousand dollars to make it happen.  The Florence Dental Clinic donated $7,500, the City of Florence pitched in $7,500 and a grant secured through BURKE (the play structure company) make up most of the money required.  Anyone who donates over $1000 will be recognized on a permanent sign in the park.

Because this park is for the kids, there will be a Bike-a-Thon to fundraise money for the park.  Kids are invited to ask their parents, relatives, friends and neighbors to sponsor them on February 11th at Miller Park as they bike around the path.  They can be sponsored by how many laps they do, or a one-time donation.  Kids who participate are eligible to earn a shirt provided by the Florence Dental Clinic.

If you are interested in helping with this project, or have money to donate please contact Erin Linton at 541-999-5831. Elementary kids will receive information in their take home folders.  A tax id number and receipt are available if needed.

Military Museum

The Florence Dental Clinic has joined forces with the military museum and has donated the funds necessary to sponsor the American Flag. We are excited to see this community dream come to be and preserve our history. Thank you to all the service men and women for their service and part in making this country a free nation.

Elementary Dental Van

One way we give back to our community is by screening all elementary school age kids at the Siuslaw Elementary School, and Mapleton Elementary School at no cost.  In 2001 Dr. Holmes started to bring a dental van to provide treatment for children who don’t have access to dental care.  Since the program has started, most of our staff at the Florence Dental Clinic has volunteered time to increase the oral health in our children.  When we started in 2001, 87% of grade school age kids in Mapleton exhibited urgent dental needs. In 2009, urgent needs decreased to an astonishing 7%, demonstrating this volunteer program has been successful.  To date, over 750 kids have received donated dental care in our community.

We care about kids, and have included a kid’s area in our waiting room.  Florence Dental Clinic is located close to the schools for easy access during school hours.

We sponsor these major programs:

Kiwainas, Rotary, National American Miss pagent, Rhododendron Pagent, Boy and Girls Club, Military Museum, Outreach services, Siuslaw School District, Food Share of Florence, Florence Humaine Society, and others.
